kwag,

I used the KVCDx3 template and the lastest optimal script on Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The finished file was OK but it had a lot of blocks especially during the chases scenes at night in the woods. I was wondering if the ksvcd template would produce better quality?

It depends how clean your source is, and the filters you use. If it's a DVD, most probably the result will be very good if you use filters. I don't have any problems at all with high speed scenes, if I use the Motion Adaptive sript. Did you use the MA script

nice choice FCJaguar88! ive had that movie along with re-animator and dead alive sitting on my HD for months, yet ive never really yielded positive results. they are old classics, so they are primarily transfers from video, which makes quite an abundance of noise/interference.

i always do standard 1CD kVCD (352 x 480) rips, but if you are going to try a kSVCD or whatever, you might want to use CCE leaving in the noise. CCE seems so like noise and encodes it well. currently, with older movies, im finding this simple script works great for quality vs size:

mpeg2source("E:\XXXX-dP\xxxx-dP.d2v")

LegalClip()

Crop(X,XX,X,XX)
BilinearResize(XXX,XXX)
AddBorders(X,XX,X,XX)

SpaceDust()
temporalsmoother(1,2)

LegalClip()

if anyone wants to step in, please, feel free. thanks!

is avisynth 2.5x compatible with moat all filters, or am i needing big time changes? oh well... back to n00b land.

Hi deltaboy,

You need to upgrade to AviSynth 2.52 if you want to enjoy all the bells and whistles of the Motion Adaptive script
The script is always posted and updated here: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3483
