I guess I must be a perfectionist cuz when I try the kvcd ntsc template(120 min on 2 cd) I get macro blocks galore it is allmost un-watchable, and I think i know what I"m doing cuz I am in the film industry(sort of)I work for a company that encodes japanese animation films to vcd (for the asian market) and to dvd(for asian european and north american market)so maybe I am asking to much but when I use my own settings and matrixes I seem to get much better quality than kvcd and just as much on a disk, I even experimented at work programing the kvcd gop structure into the $60,000 hardware encoder at work, I had better results than with tmpgenc and the kvcd templates but it still wasnt what I expected ,but I guess if you were new to encodeing and just wanted to get a movie to a disk,it would be acceptable but so would the standard tmpgenc templates, but I guess the biggest problem was trying to edit a kvcd file, seeing as there arent very many I frames it makes acurate editing difficult, but like I said I guess I"m a perfectionist, but I"ll keep playing with it and see if I can tweek it to get a better result ..hope you guys have better luck...see ya
