I downloaded 2.56 only to find that the MPEG2 trial had expired as soon as I loaded it instead of the usual 30 days

Does the trial period end if you had a previous version on your machine.

( I had 2.4 on mine previously )

Looks like I will have to buy now ! but I am still unhappy with some bugs, i.e. MPEG tools - I try to move the slider even after I start the video playing and it locks up.

Thanks,

Al

Sadly, yes, it won't work if you had a previous version. TMPEG keeps the time of installation in a registry variable. Don't know which. If you can find it, and clear it, you can try it again for 30 more days.
I bought the plus version, so I don't worry about that

Thanks for the swift reply KWAG. I will probably buy it now if only I could solve the lock up with the slider in MPEG tools when viewing and cutting video.

BTW thanks for the excellent templates.

I made a nice VCD from your 2X 704 X 576 PAL template last night from video taken off a digi Sat receiver and the quality was superb.

All the templates I have tested work in my Cyberhome 528 Player great. I usually leave the 48Khz on Sat stuff as is.

Thanks Al
I've updated the compatibility chart with your info on the X2 on your model.

Thanks,

if one was really really desperate to tweak the registry, one would go to vcdhelp and search for tmpgenc 30-day.
Hypothetically speaking of course, if one was to run the new *.reg file on say, a 2.53A version, it would'nt necessarily renew it for say, 2.54B. 2.54B, for example, would need its own registry tweak.
asta La, errr... hasta la proxima is what i meant to say.

ztr..

@b7

About the slider problem. It works. But you have to wait, sometimes 30 to 45 seconds, before it starts playing. I guess it's a sync problem that TMPEG can't deal with correctly. Just slide to the point minus a couple of minutes where you want to start, and hit play. After a while it starts to play.
