As I was on "holidays" the last week I just wanted to know if there is:

a) a new commandline
b) something new from the "avisynth-like thingy for linux"
c) anything else

Nothing new. Just keep watching the mailing lists at ffmpeg project at sourceforge.net, to see when they fix all the video stream bugs

only development isn't going that fast (for us) since the goal of the ffmpeg project is a bit wider than our goal, maybe it's time to take ffmpeg (parts) as base for a new encoder special for our purpose?

Version 0.4.8 is broken
It can't read VOBs and other types of sources

Edit: It reads VOBs. The problem is with the audio in the VOBs.

AVI sources work fine, and now I just tried a GOP of 24 and 2 B frames, and it also works
More to experiment....

End of experiments...

Muxing errors everywhere, just like 0.4.8.
Either with internal mux ( -f vcd ) or externally demuxing and remuxing with BBMpeg.
See you on version 0.4.9.......

OK...
after some tests I can say: NO muxing errors!

I can take either vob or avi files as input... ALWAYS gives an output without muxing errors. (2 B frames and a GOP of 25 frames --> GREAT quality)

I use either the internal "-f vcd" (for files with 1 audio stream) or do video and audio seperatly and mux under windows with bbmpeg (modifing 3 SVCD preset options)

-> always fine and plays on my standalone!
