Dearest K-DVD encoders (LOL LOL LOL LOL)
I've made the switch from Tmpgenc to "Cinema Craft Encoder & qcce" (v1.01)
All I can say is " The quality is jus unbelieveable "
Much Thanks to "Dialhot" for showin me that this program exsisted !!
I jus have 1 problem, everytime I tell it that I want my tagetsize to be 1380 mb It'll go about 100 to 200 mb over (100 without audio & 200 with)
If I want my targetsize to be 1500 max (per K-DVD) (with audio)
Then what changes to "qcce v1.01" do I need to make ta make it not go over the max targetsize I want,
(I eagerly wait for a reply) Damnnnn !!
(Source DVD 9, Target K-DVD 704 X 480, 1500 MB)

If you're using some filtering, this tend to happen. I am even adding a "q factor correction" in my DIKO tool to address this problem. I think if you specify a higher target than the actual target, it might sove the problem?

Send a message via ICQ to incredible
Also the developing of that Qcce is NOT finished! That means surely in the future there will be more optimzation of the prediction routine.

Im in contact with jonny and offered him my slicer() offset prediction function to maybe inegrate it as option in his prediction code.

But no matter which prediction appl. - everybody gots his own optimal safe margin factor which you also can put into your calculations, ... as you say "every" of your predictions ends up in the same 100 MBs more

So we'll see.

BTW: I did now ca. 5 Encodings and I had not that file differences as you,
in case of lower bitrate encodings I would switch off "restrickt auto I frame insertion" which helps to keep the Gop Sequence in tact = better prediction accuracy

K I did everything u sugggested & It still keeps commin out to be the same size. 1.47 gb without audio, I want it to be that exact size with the audio should I lower max QC from 50 to somethin lower, ?
or should i lower the Quantisizer Characteristics fom 14 to lower,
Or should I raise Quantisizer Characteristics back to 16 & lower the max constant quality from 50 to 45 or 48?
Will ajusting any of the above I meantioned shrink filesize?
please help

Just one thing I wanted to say to you since a while : you plan to put 3 movies on a KDVD, each of them is 1.5GB.

3*1.5 = 4.5. A DVD contains 4.37 GB !

An, due to authoring (making menu take some place !), the maximum data you can put on a DVD is 4.2 GB

As do not use this toll as I do not use any tool (except CQMatic). I use to make all my jobs manually. And all is perfect almost everytime

You should talk only on differences between "target size" and "obtained size" (target size is relative only to video, atm you should calculate it manually, giving space for audio and mux/vob overhead).
What %, ERR % are you using (this info is quite important)?

Usually i shot the encode in the night, with 2% of the movie and 0% as error, the worst case was 40MB undersized (and never oversized).

EDIT:
Another important things are your MaxQ and MinQ settings (maybe you have hitted MaxQ, in this case the error can be higher).

EDIT2:
Quote:
All I'm sayin is johnnys toy is really messed up I set targetsize for 1380 mb lastnight & the size that cameout was 1.47 gb WHY ?
Quote:
But last night I set target size to 1000 mb (in QCCE) & THIS MORNIN THE FINAL SIZE WAS 1.47 GB
1380, 1000 or both?
So many posts and you are not giving any detailed info about your job setup (and any log too).
Next time do an accurate post (on the 1st post) and remember to not complain so much for a thing that you are getting for free.
