First, it doesn't matter what processor you use. But go ahead and upgrade to a P4 @1.6Ghz. The PII is way too slow for MPEG encoding.
You should try and burn the three new samples I posted today, and see if they play correctly in your player. They're all NTSC, but you'll be able to test all three PLUS resolutions. 352x240, 352x480 and 704x480.
