I have tried the KVCD 2 Plus templates to back up my Star Wars Episode 1. Ist attemt I got a lot of blocking and the picyure was split near the bottom, the top bit of the picture showing at the bottom. After browsing the posts I tried again altering the minimum bitrate to 600. Encoded using PAL template at DVD quality. Perfect Picture and Sound. Success. I have tried backing up Jurassic Park 3 using the same settings but the result is again blocky and split picture. I assumed that once I had found the right settings for my DVD player it would be the same for any subsequent encoding. Am I wrong, do I have to alter settings every time. I have browsed the forum for many hours but have not yet found the answer to this specific problem.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

NB does it matter what processor you have as I have aPentium2 350 but am about to upgrade to a Pentium4 1.6.

First, it doesn't matter what processor you use. But go ahead and upgrade to a P4 @1.6Ghz. The PII is way too slow for MPEG encoding.
You should try and burn the three new samples I posted today, and see if they play correctly in your player. They're all NTSC, but you'll be able to test all three PLUS resolutions. 352x240, 352x480 and 704x480.
Just download the samples here: http://www.kvcd.net/dvd-models
