I know how to get around the "ACM failed to suggeset a compatible PCM format" by placing ",false at the the end of the source file. Now I'm at a point were getting around it won't work; I have to resolve this problem. The reason is that I'm now using aviscript which uses avisynth and I can't preview the video or make changes before convertion because of the error messege. Does anyone know how to get ACM to suggest a compatible PCM format.

Please help me with this issue or point me in a helpful direction.

Open the avi using "Gspot", do look what audiocodec is used in that avi and install that specific audiocodec from www.codec-download.com or elsewhere.

I checked the audio codec need for the audio and Gspot informed me that I have The required codecs installed, but yet I continue to recieve this error.

To which codecs does Gspot point to?
Don't trust Gspot if it says "... are properly installed" its only useful to check out the codecs names. So try install or reinstalling them.

As often you don't give the slightest clue on what you are doing and you expect we will guess !

What is your source ? What is that godamn codec pointed out by Gspot ?
Do you imagine how many audio codecs exist ? Do you think the answer to your problem is universal, whatever the source and/or the audio stream ?

Man, we can answer a lot of questions but we can't if we don't even receive the question !

Man, did I piss him off or what lol

Hey Dialhot calm down. I hope you can use that same energy in helping me with my issue

Avi source= Video (XVID/yv12)
I have 5 compatible video codecs installed:
Xvid MPEG-4, MPEG-4 decoder, ffdshow MPEG-4 decoder, and 2 DIVX decoders.

Gspot points at XVID MPEG-4 code/video Decoder

Audio= AC3 (0x2000)
4 compatible codecs:
ACE filter, Cyberlink audio decoder, Nero digital audio decoder, ACE from avi xform.

Gspot points at Cyberlink audio decoder, ACE avi xform
and Nero digital audio decoder

Do you imagine how much question we (I) have like yours, included in PM, that need more time for me to answer than time it took to the askers to post ?
It's not a matter of pissing me off (what you didn't do actually), but a question of "imagine what you would do if you were us ?" You will surely trash the message and never answer to it.

BINGO ! I was sure about this but waited for more effort from your part.
Vdub can't deal with ac3. You have to use vdubmod and DEMUX (not decompress) the audio to an ac3 file that you will encode in mp2 with besweet or headac3che.
