I have Nero 6 Ultra Edition installed, the virtual drive tool is called Nero ImageDrive.I dont know if Nero Express got this feature.

But get latest DaemonTools release,it works great and its free,
http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/portal/portal.php

latest version is 3.47 and there is also a 3.47 hotfix for
XP SP2 issues.(but I doubt you got XP in your old computer )

Nero is a tool suite.

Nero Burning rom is the burning tool
Nero Express is the wizard
Nero Recode is the mpeg2 transcoder
Nero Wave Edit is the audio editor
...

And Nero ImageDrive is the vitual drive tool.

Hey, well thanks for the telling me about Daemon, I realy liked it.

Since a CD-ROM can be used as a DVD-ROM, can a CD burner be used
as a DVD burner?

An other way to answer the question is... to slow down on the beer.

No CD-ROM can be used as DVD-ROM !
