You can update your list regarding the pioneer DV-525.

I can play the MPEG2-template perfect,
but the MPEG1-template plays only about 2/3 of the TV-screen from left.

i created 1 min avi file from an dowloaded farscape episode.

used KVCD-CQ-352x288-_PAL_-PLUS in both encoders
put the 1 min avi-file

result:
2.58 = 8 285 060 byte (7.9 MB)
2.59 = 10...

On vcdhelp.com, there are som people who solved the problem with players that dosen't play SVCD's. Instead they choose to make VCD instead SVCD with the same MPEG2-file.

I forget to say that i downsampeld the audio from 48 to 44.1.

I don't do 48KHz because i don't like the sound quality. To much hizzing in the audio stream. I dont't know why.

My Pioneer DV-525 had the same problem when i encoded with MPEG-1.

My Pioneer DV-525 play the created MPEG-file perfect.

The file was created with DVD2SVCD, Tmpge 2.55 (300-1700), CQ=70,
audio 128, NTSC to PAL, burned with VCDEasy to create chapters.

It works!

Did another test on Higlander 2 spesial edition.
Used Tmpge 2.55 in combination with dvd2svcd with CQ=70,
size 352x576, MPEG2, audio 128Kb as mp2, changed max bitrat down
1700. NTSC to PAL.

Try to ecnode with MPG2 instead of MPG1.
My pioneer DV-525 don't like VBR-MPG1. The sound gets choppy.
But with MPEG2 it play smoothly.
