How do I maintain the right aspect ratio?

How do I maintain the right aspect ratio when normally you have for instance 720x576 and on a kvcd you change it to 352x576 doesnt the picture aspect change??

the sound was fine but the picture was not? Resolution problem?

Got a question... i was trying to make a kvcd out of a divx511 file and i tried the endresult file on a cd-rw in two stand alone dvd-players and the sound was fine but the picture was, well...
