Will someone PLEASE try this! I just encoded a 10 second clip of "The Matrix" lobby scene with TMPEG 2.55. With the standard VCD template, you can see blocks.
If I turn on "Soften Blocks"...

Every test that I've made with the "soften block noise" results in worse blocks!. I've read comment on the net about this too. In TMPEG versions 1.xBeta, it worked. But on versions 2.X, it's worse....

Did you Check "Output YUV data as Basic YCbCr not CCIR601" in TMPEG?
Try that.
