Use the script ONLY if your source is telecined. If your DVD is FILM, you only need to set "Force FILM" in DVD2AVI and you don't neet the Telecide and Decimate lines.

You must burn as SVCD. Not as VCD. SVCD supports interlaced video. VCD's do not.

If your movie is 29.97 interlaced, then you encode at 29.97 interlaced...

Yes, and that's why I left the default on the MPEG-2 template as 3:2 pulldown, assuming most encodes would be from FILM 24fps :wink:

Because it won't make a difference if you select 1:1 or full screen, because FitCD's script is already feeding TMPEG...

For any VCD (KVCD), leave the output aspect to 4:3. For input aspect, if you use FitCD, you don't worry about it. Leave at "Full Screen"

You can't encode from DV with the template as it is. DV is 29.97fps Interlaced.
You must deinterlace, and encode at 29.97fps.

There are a few reasons. First, the quality is superior to CVD and SVCD. So now we won't get comments such as "It's softer than a SVCD" from some people, because it's sharper than the best SVCD....

Quality wise, they're almost the same. File size is larger with the MPEG-2. About 1MB more per minute. So the MPEG-1 is the best for space savings.
