From what I can gather from that Dolby document, they also differ in that ProLogic needs to be specially encoded, whereas ProLogic II doesn't. They must have some damn clever people there.

Ok, just encoded my first ProLogic II soundtrack (American Pie), and used the same CBR so of course it won't mess up my file size. Now I need to mux it and make an image and burn it and try it ;).

I might be wrong but I assumed they were the same thing. 3 front channels, 2 rear. The only difference is that a 5.1 has a separate sub-woofer channel.
