Just to tell that the problem for RV(9 or 10) is not in the codec, it is in the difficulty to read it. (MKV + necessity to have realplayer ou real altenative installed).

This can explain why it is...

If he want to consider recoding, then this is RV10 and TheFilmMachine that I would suggest. This is a very convenient all-in-one tool to save video+audios+subtitles in a MKV container.
