Thats is normal : TMPEGEnc set res. and fps according to the source each time you load a new one....

When you tell "put in the video" you mean in what ? TMPGEnc ?

You must encode in MPEG2, and set in tmpgenc "23.97 internally...

I used to see jerkiness also when I use CQ_VBR mode but nothing with CQ.
Your problem can also come from 23.97 movies that are 2:3 pulldown to 29.97.

You should give more details on what you do.
