What I used to get good results was the following:

KVCD PAL Template
0 min bitrate
1450 max bitrate
25fps
128kbps layer2 audio
CQ 65

That gave me a 1 gig file so if you werent concerned about file size up the CQ a little more.

hey a_star, I am using NTSC so I changed the framerate to 29.97fps
(my dvd player reads it better) and the resolution to 352x240 with a cq of 70 and the rest of the settings I am using yours. Before I encode and waste time, I just wanna know if those settings would sound right for NTSC.
