Apple MacBook Core 2 Duo T7200 2.0GHz 1GB 80GB CDRW/DVD 13.3" AirPort OS X w/Webcam
only $499

This may not be the latest and greatest 2010 laptop, but that would also cost $2K. If you want a good Mac on the cheap, this is it. This is a circa 2006-2007 Mac, and works amazingly well. Two friends use these exact models, and it's great for not only standard home/office work, but even some video and photo editing.

Only drawback is no DVD burner -- just get a good external for $30-50, problem solved. Geeks has those, too, for great prices.
