Verbatim 4.7GB DVD+R 16x 25 Pack Spindle
Verbatim 4.7GB DVD-R 16x 25 Pack Spindle

Both of these items are on AMAZON.CO.UK for around 5 GBP apiece (the "used and new" sellers, sold new from third-party companies), which is about $9 USD for a 25-pack. That is approximate to USA prices on these same discs.

There is no need to buy Bulkcrap (Bulkpaq), Tuffdisc, Datawrite, Ridisc, Datasafe, and all that other second-rate media. Most all USA seem to use Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden or Sony these days (at least the good ones). It's easy to find, and has a really good price (between 30-50 cents per disc). It's time our friends across the "big pond" do the same.

Verbatim in Europe is still fairly new, only started in the 16x days, and usually comes from one of the European plants (TDK Luxembourg), or India or Taiwan. So I know some of you older folks may not be aware of it. The times, they are a-changing! For once, it's an improvement.

I know at least one UK person here uses Verbatim already.

gosh, you're talking about me are you LS?

99% of my stuff is on verbatim. usually buy from svp.

sony spindle tub 25 at £12.99 and tub 50 at £19.99 at sainsburys right now.

have to admit my burners (pioneer 111 & nec 2500a) had a couple of problems with some of those sony's.

2 dvds both burners refused to burn. one or two, it burnt at 4x rather than the rated 16x.

but it could be my burners which have been overused and are about dead?

The good Sony should be coded as "SONYD21" DVD+R media, made in Japan or Taiwan. I'm not too hot on the SONY DVD-R, but those even work in my Pioneer 103 with the unknown write strategy (no firmware entry).
