One of the goals of digitalFAQ.com is to create a large knowledge base of information concerning digital media. The forum was created as a means to archive conversations, Q&A sessions between its readers/members, and site staff.

Every time questions are answered in e-mail or private messages (PMs), the answer is largely "wasted" and not added to this archive of knowledge. To this end, we ask that all questions be asked in the forum.

It's also more difficult to answer PMs and e-mails. A new post on the forum creates a thread, and the conversation is "threaded" as a whole. PMs and e-mails are piecemeal, and it's easy to lose messages. You're also able to edit your post, if it's not yet received a reply, if you have added thoughts. Had it been PM or e-mail, more messages would have been required, thus complicating the conversation even more. Non-forum conversations can be a real nightmare, when trying to teach or discuss complex topics. One of our main goals is to ALSO make this information easy to understand, and a forum allows for this to happen.

Save e-mails and PM's for personal details only.

Please do not be offended if we ask that you post a question in the forum, as a response to an e-mail or PM. Between anonymous usernames and Premium-only forums, most information is already semi-private anyway. Posts made in the members-only forums cannot be seen by search engines or non-members.

Thanks.
