I gave up trying to find solutions for it and...

I gave up trying to find solutions for it and just put together a reasonable Windows 7 machine which isn't attached to the internet and that's what I use as my main VHS transfer machine.

Many thanks for the reply though! I think I'm happy with the player overall so I will be keeping it; it's certainly miles ahead of the standard VHS player I used to have.
