What, somebody wanting to take on somebody else who's criticising them? Shock Horror! And I thought it was quite decent of Sean to even offer to fly Westlife out for the chat! That's pretty ethical...

Pinnacle 710-USB?

IMO £250 is a ripoff for the 710, unless you got ripped off when you bought it. For that money (or close to it), you could buy a very good S-VHS VCR from VCRShop.

For me, the 710-USB initially...

LS, I have been on VH and your site for over two years. There is literally only one person who regularly bags the GV-USB2: you, but have never once produced any comparative evidence that shows it is...

I don't use Premiere but the 720x540 will give you 4:3. I'm sure that YT video is relevant here: he's talking about stretching anamorphic video from a drone or action cam. I don't think that applies...

Square pixels all the way for me! The only other main-stream non-square video format is HDV (1440x1080i 16:9- niche from HDV camcorders). Everything else is square (DVDs will probably be non-square...

You are clearly referring to me here. I have NEVER taken credit, or bragged, or sledged, anybody for using that combo. You don't even own a GV-USB2 so you are in no position to criticise it.

I am...

That doesn't look like it's a DV transfer (good you're not using the "capture" term! :)). The reasons I say that is 1/because he quotes a 60 minute tape as 70GB, which is not DV. DV is 13GB per hour....

Agree, it hasn't been deinterlaced. Here it is, deinterlaced in VDub.

I'm sure somebody will be able to troubleshoot your QTGMC script if you post it.

Traal, that topic is about VHS, a different kettle of fish to a V8 tape played in a Sony TBC-equipped camcorder. FWIW, I've tried PAL DV verses AVI as per the OP's scenario, and I can hardly tell the...

Use an ES-15-type stabiliser only if the TBC of the JVC can't do the job ie it can't correct the wiggles/wavy edges. If you do have to resort to using an ES-15, switch the JVC TBC off.

You won't/shouldn't have black bars on all 4 sides. If it's a 16:9 video, you'll have none on a widescreen TV. If it's on a 4:3 TV, you'll have letterboxing (black on top and bottom) but thee video...
