Torrents in and of themselves are not a bad thing. Torrents are merely the tool of choice among the warez scene. It's all the warez aspects that this site shall avoid, as it's not pertinent to conversations here. There's also something to be said for supporting small companies that release the bulk of tools online; they're not all MS and Adobe!
Our favorite Linux OS is Xubuntu, and the preferred download method is torrent:
http://xubuntu.org/getxubuntu
Non-torrent download methods of downloading Xubuntu can be painfully slow.
