Replaced the laser in my Zenith xbr413 dvd recorder combo. Hitachi Laser Lens HOP7521 looked the same as the original Zenith part, except that Hitachi replacement appears to accept two different sizes of flexible flat cable. I can see the strong red beam coming on. Also, the focus moves up and down. But here it stops. Now is not even attempting to read the disc. Is there any solder ball that I have to remove? Or something else?

It has an LSI chipset, so it's worth repairing.

Maybe Hitachi didn't actually send the correct repair part -- that happens, a lot, from manufacturers.
Or it's listed wrong?
I dealt with that myself, with a refrigerator, some time back. The part listed in the book was not the part in the fridge!
