I tried to make a few snapshots (with Virtualdub) of my most recent MPEG captures to attach to my post regarding "How much is too much bit rate?" But I either did something wrong,or Virtualdub isn't allowed to use MPEG??

VirtualDub can't natively open MPEG2 files. Try VirtualDub MPEG-2:

Don't use the ancient "MPEG2 version" of VirtualDub.
That's version 1.6, and is missing some serious bug fixes and modern features. It's best left to the dumpster of time.

Instead, use the MPEG-2 plugin.
That's actually part of the VirtualDub kit available here: VirtualDub with Filters Pre-loaded + HuffYUV [DOWNLOADS]
Change the color depth to YUY2 manually for MPEG-2. (Video > Color Depth)

VLC has a snapshot feature as well. video-take snapshot.
The directory is set in preferences.

The problem with screen grabs in all of the software players, however, is that the image is not 1:1 to the source. It's almost always altered in some way, due to the filters (and sometime colorspace conversion) of the player. Screenshot functions in players are never suggested. Therefore always open it in a known-clean editor, such as VirtualDub.

Thanks All !! Finally downloaded and "Installed" V-Dub L.S. Version!! Why did I wait so Damn long!?? I Know why,It's because I was afraid of the "Un-raring" thing!,but with 7-zip already on my contuter,it was a snap!!! Just made a 2nd V-Dub L.S. version Folder on "C" drive and it worked just fine!!..Finally had a little fun for once, tinkering around with my MPEG Footage (learning how it works)!!!..Now, do I use the "clipboard" function in V-Dub to take Video snapshots??
