i've tried converting an ac3 to a mp2 but when its finished the file is 155mb but the video is only about 400mb i think. from what i've read on these forums 155mb seems a little too big. also when i play the mp2 in wmp it says the file is 2hrs 16 mins long, even though the movie is only 1hr 44mins long. it seems to skip like buggery also.
can anyone help at all??
cheers

How did you extract this ac3 ?
Which tool did you use to encode ?

Strange. And if you play directly the ac3, what time is shown ?
(sometimes it is not possible to play ac3 files alone because they need a different codec than the one used for playing ac3 within a movie, so don't bother if you can't play it).

I realise taht you don't tell what is the tool used for doing the ac3 -> mp2 process ! It must be the "guilty". So, what it is ?
Note: thinks about usign ac3fix also on the ac3 file before to convert it.

We are in the headac3che forum
I never use headac3che but it gives trouble on lot a fiels. Generally that is solve by using ac3fix before to encode into mp2.
But you should try besweet also.

the notepad screen is to display the log file. Here it seems that nothing is done, so the log is empty
You missed something OR your source is REALLY corrupted. Are you sure it a an ac3 ?
(copy the command line used by besweet here).

well, its the file that ac3fix produced and everything indicates its an ac3
heres the info you wanted:
"D:\VCD stuff\BeSweet\BeSweet.exe" -core( -input "C:\Documents and Settings\Stu\Desktop\schoolofrock.fixed.ac3" -output "C:\Documents and Settings\Stu\Desktop\schoolofrock.fixed - New - [20.07.2004] - [00.39.04].mp2" -logfilea "D:\VCD stuff\BeSweet.log" ) -azid( -c light -L -3db --maximize ) -mp2enc( -m d -b 128 -e )
hope you can come up with something, this is doing my head in now!

Please do not double post. I erased your other thread because people can't have all the info you already gave here !
I don't see anything in your line except that you should use shorter path (and file) names !
Give me the infos for the ac3 file that you can have with gspot for instance, or whatever else. I need the freq (in Khz) and the bitrates (en Kbit/s) the filesize (in MB).
But I'm definitely sure you file is corrupted.
(note : how big is the fixed file compared to the original one ?).

unfortunally there is nothing wrong in any of all these numbers; Just the "2h16" reported after encoding with headache is wrong (but you already know that ).
As this source turns mad the two programs, it can't be anything but corrupted.
Just try shorter names (any work on KVCD should be in "c:\kvcd" and nothing longer !) as last chance.

For the size matter : what is the bitrate you used ??? You know you can change it ?
The muxing problem : never had nor seen that anywhere. You are realling unlucky !

sorted it phil mate! the bitrate was still on 48khz which of course is no good for vcd so i changed that to 44.1khz and everything is cool, i now have a perfect kvcd at 647mb.
picture and sound are superb quality
thanks again mate
