With transcoding an Avi to kvcd using DVD2SVCD (and Sweethead) I get an errormessage "read less bytes than expected" from Headache.
Any ideas ?
(PS: The avi uses MP3 VBR audio, maybe that is the problem ? ...but how to solve it ?).

The MP3 VBR isn't a problem has DVD2SVCD use an intermediate wav file created by Madplay.
Find this wav and try to convert it manually with headache to see if there is problem with sweethead, or if the error comes from elsewhere.

Hi Phil,
Sorry for the late response. Some other projects took too much time, but now I'm back with this one.
I found an 88Mb large .mpa file and a 1Gb .wav file in my target directory. I converted the .mpa file manually with headac3he to a .mp2 file (extracted_audio_1.mp2 - 155 Mb) which seems to contain all the audio. No errormessages this time.
How to continue ? If I use recover to continue with video encoding I get black and white video in TMPGenc which only covers the left side of the screen in TMPGenc. Maybe this is another problem.........

I think I used the wrong script Phil..........(DivX V3 from "Staigerpaip")-> see below.......
I think I try another (your new) DivX script and it will be better.
By the way..........how should I name the .mp2 file for DVD2SVCD to be able to use it ("encoded_audio1.mp2" ?). Did I do it correctly (using the .mpa file to convert manually with HeadAC3he ? Or should I have used the 1GB large .wav file ?).

.......I don't understand what happend Phil. I tried another recovery with exactly the same script and now the encoding runs fine in TMPGenc (??).
Temporary "glitch" maybe .......?
Hope the audio gets muxed OK in the endresult.....I let you know.
.....strange though that Sweethead initially reports the errormessage and manually it works (?).....

Yeah.....strange combination of errors/problems.......(Sweethead + TMPGenc).
Got a 700 Mb .mpg file yesterday with perfect audio/video synchro (in PowerDVD anyway) so I'm running a new encode with 4 CQ points higher so it will be approx. 800 Mb (I'm still doing file size prediction by "trial and error" )
Up to the next "difficult" projects (merging 2 SVCD's to 1 KVCD disc + encoding "weird framerate" AVI).
Speak to you soon

I did that last week (a 3CD SVCD of 2h18 on one KVCD, yes ! )
Very simple : just need to load the 3 MPEG in DVD2AVI, set the audio on "Demux" in the menu of DVD2AVI and save. It create a d2v file you can use as video source in TMPGENC and a compressed audio file that you can convert in mp2 with headache.
All is perfect at the end.

You didn't use an Avysynth script Phil.. ?
Thought in my other thread you mentioned making a textfile with notepad for the script....

For sure I use a script ! The d2v file created by DVD2AVI is the source used in the script, that's all. That's also the way we do DVD you know ?
And yes, a script can be done with notepad, you don't need other tools.

Sorry to keep bugging you Phil but, what script would you recommend for a 2 Disc SVCD-> 1 disc SKVCD project.
Could you post an example script (with the d2v source line) ?

I use the same script than for avi because the artefacts in avis and mpegs are quite the same, so the script is perfect for removing them.
You can find the scripts there (take V4) :
http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7223
Just have to change the source line for :
Code:
mpeg2source("your.d2v")
Note: we are a away from a sweethead problem there, so what about changing thread and forum ?
