So I have just found out that for some stupid reason, my dvd player won't play PAL dvd's even if the region codes are fine/removed.

I know that with (s)vcd's, you can burn a PAL film (25 fps, etc.) as an NTSC disc, in Nero for example. Is there a way to do this with dvd's? Or is there a way to patch the files to make them show up as NTSC to my player so the stupid thing will play them?

Kinda frustrated, I've burned probably 10-15 backups and just now am realizing that my player's choking on them. Gonna have to reburn them all. Whee! I love wasting time and money!

Soo any suggestions?

I'm not sure it will read them but you can fool your player by patching the header of your DVD with dvdpatcher.

Alright, so using DVDPatcher, I open up VTS_01_1.VOB, do I want to change the Vertical Size to PAL or the framerate (don't think I want to do that, right?) or what? Do I want to put in the bitrate that shows up in the info on the right under Custom, or what? This one in particular shows up as 7500000 on the right, but 3.5MBit is selected on the left..

And do I need to do this to every VOB? Or just one? Or..?

Help me out with this please =)

Every vobs yes. Change only the fps. The column on the left gives the current situation, the one one the right is what you will copy in the header. Let set all the info on the left as they are on the right if you don't need to change them.

So in this example, would I enter '9800000' for Custom under bitrate, or what? Horizontal size 720, vertical size 576, Aspect Ratio 4:3, then would I want to choose 23.97 or 29.97 for the Framerate? Then, would I choose 'First header only' or 'Entire file' under Patch?

Thanks!

You should set 980000 yes, but in fact this info is not used by the player.
720*576 and 4:3 for sure.
Put 29.970 as 23.976 is not a valid fps for a DVD. But if you did a KVCD, you can try 23.976.
The problem here is that you are trying to fool you standalone so nothing can tell you what will work.

And apply on the whole file !
