Hi, how are you all guys.
Im not encoding video from a long time ago, but now I need some help to reencode family videos (holidays, etc.).
It has an unusual extension (.mod) but avicodec show it as mpeg2 + ac3 (video cam encodes to ac3?). Is PAL interlaced.
I want to convert it to progressive. I is not very important to reduce de final size.
Please could you help me with what encoder, what script, etc. is the simplest way to do that. Explain me it as you was talking with a complete beginner (I became it with the pass of time).
Thanks.

Hi pro, what ever the extension, your video seems that same as a VHS capture, so using the VHS optimal script should do it. And also this topic:

Note: yes encoder can do ac3, but generaly in stereo.

Thanks Phil, I will read that thread.

Edit:
In the thread says: "It's meant for keeping the material interlaced, so it's mostly for DVD encodes"

But I want to convert interlaced to progressive. What is the better quality method?

Depends on how is the interlace (trully interlaced or simply frame interleave).

Generally a TDeint() works well, but I did not follow things in this area since a very long time.

fter this you can use whatever script you want (optimal one for instance or some of my statics I used to develop for AVI).
