Hello all:

In a different post I was stating that I had resolved my script issue, but, it came back again. When I load the .avs script into Tmpgenc. I receive the following message:
Quote:
Avisynth open failure
Evaluate: Unrecognized exception!
("F:\DVD Projects\kvcd\DVD2avi out\recruit_qc.d2v"), line 25
It so happens that line 25 ithe output of dvd2avi, or the input to Moviestacker.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Avisynth, am using v. 252, as well as unistalling and installing dvd2avi. I am using version 1.773.

Other than trying dvd2avi v 1.76, which I will do tomorrow, I have no idea what to do next.
Please help.

Thanks

hi totonho03..

* How are you arriving at the error ??

* What's line 25 say ??

* are you talking about a .D2V file or VFAPI psuedo .AVI file ??

* Are you using filters in the script ??
...if the error is happening AFTER the filters, REM them out ie, ###
...if the error is BEFORE the filters, then perhaps the problem is elsewheres
...in your source.

Try including only the bare minimum, just to see who is causing the issue.

Example:

* txt_dir252="c:\dlls252\"
* LoadPlugin(txt_dir252+"MPEG2Dec3.dll")
* Mpeg2Source("h:\vfapi\dbsea.d2v")

and open into vdubMOD or TMPG.

If the above works, then there is only the question of finding out if its something
to do w/ filters or codecs or something else.

Personally, I would not keep switching back and forth w/ DVD2AVI versions.
I always use v1.76 (it's king, hands down.. all others, too many cooks have
spoiled the broth - - plain and simple)

Do give the above some thought.

Otto my friend,
please:

1- using the last best script for avisynth252 without changes?
2 - did you reinstall avisynth252 without ffvfw?
if don't,remove ffvfw and intall xvid!
3- your project (.d2v) open in wmplayerClassic?
4- the script open in vdubmod without problems?

yeah, lots of questions, but in one of them is the answer!

AVIsynth F.A.Q

@ totonho03..

I think that Wilbert was refering to this issue here, which resembles yours:

* Q2.7: I get an unrecognized exception error trying to load an avs file
.............with VirtualDub, using dvd2avi v1.77.3 ?

Have a good day all.

Hello again:

I thank you for your answers and suggestions, and I will try to address them the best I can. It is natural to think that a newbie like myself will overlook certain things, but if you allow me I will mention what my set up is:

@Wilbur: I am using the latest avisynth, with all the proper dlls for version 2.5, this includes the nic dll for mpeg2dec3. (I believe that I had mentioned that before, if not, then I am sorry for not being clear in this issue. But thank you nevertheless, sometimes one does not go back to FAQ as often as one should do it.)

@Jorel:

Yes, the latest with no changes.
Quote:
2 - did you reinstall avisynth252 without ffvfw?
Yes, I did re-install avisynth 252, after uninstalling the previous version, However, I had not uninstalled ffvw. I will do that and check the script again
Quote:
3- your project (.d2v) open in wmplayerClassic?
I do not have wmplayerClassic, but I have tried to open the avs file in virtual dub, virtualdubmode, mp and power dvd v 3.0 to no avail. Perhaps this is due to the fact that the error on line 25, which is the line that load the d2v file.
Quote:
4- the script open in vdubmod without problems?
No, the script does no open at all. It is here where I read the "avisynth open failure error message

The error appeared when the .avs was loaded into Tmpgenc. Then I open up virtualdubmod, and it gave me the error that posted in my first post.

The d2v file, came from dvd2avi, I used a 4 minutes of the DVD, I believe it was Decrypter's vob 4

I am using kwag's optimal script.

The funny thing is that I was testing kwag's program, and it worked. However, the avs that I was using for it came from ACP, which is using just 2 filters, so basically I am answering your question here. The problem appeared when I started using the optimal script. However, I will try to reduce or remout, some lines/fileters in order to learn which is the one causing the problem.

If that does not help, then I will try version dvd2avi v1.76, but do not remember if this version works with avi 2.52 or not, I will go back to the posts to refresh my memory in regards to the compatibilty between d2a 1.76 and avi 2.52 (I could always try it without reading )

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions. I am now going to swim, have a couple of ice cold beers (estupidamente geladas) then cook a parrillada (bbq) -Peruvian/American style, and come back here tonight.

Thanks and good afternoon

hi totonho03..

FWIW, I'm using DVD2AVI v1.76 under AVS v2.52 (short for AVIsynth)

Doom9's Sh0dan made another update of v2.52 (still the same ver name, though
could of use v2.52b or something, so's not to confuse people, cause some
newbies don't quite easily understand the reasons for keeping even an
update w/ the same version name) So, in short, you might want to give
his latest update a try. I understand that he remove the ffvfw from the
install part.
So, that may help you out or not. Won't hurt but to try, right ?

I think the AVS v2.52 update was from last week maybe.

I'm not sure what relation ffvfw has w/ AVS though. Maybe it was the cause
of some peoples previous problems that were reported then, but that it was
discovered. I don't know. FWIW..

I do hope you fix your issues though

regards,

Otto my friend,

if vdubmod don't open the file, then have something
wrong with the source or with the filters.
my problems gone away when i uninstall ffvfw and install xvid.
like you posted, you are using the mpeg2dec3 (v1.08 from Nic is cool)
that works fine with avisynth252 and dvd2avi 1773 too.

got here xvid and mpeg2dec3v108 from Nic:
http://nic.dnsalias.com/
...
you can try with dvd2avi 176 that works with avisynth252 very fine

ps:
wmplayerClassic is free and open anything...vobs,.avis,.mpegs,.avs...etc.
good for check sources and encodes.

Gentlemen:

GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!! :yippie:

1.-I started by ### some script lines, that did not work.
2.- Uninstall avisynth 2.52 and re-installed. Did not work
3.- Uninstall ffvf (or something similar) Did not work
4.- Uninstalled d2a 1.773, and installed 1.76. Now dvddubmod was given me an error: "could not locate Yv12" or something similar to this. However when using dvddub it told me that I needed a VFW codec.
5.- Installed Xvid codec, as per Jorel's recommendation.
6.- Now everything is clean, as far as the script is concerned, CQmatic works, as well as TOK

To recap, the change to d2a version 1.76 (Thanks vhelp) in conjunction to the installation of the xvid did the trick.

Thank you guys, I am now back in business......Still many things to learn, but with a little bit of luck, and a lot of your help I may be able to begin walking in this kvcd world.

Best regards.

Totonho03

It is almost 1.20 a.m. and am a bit tired. Tomorrow I will check if the codec was the missing link when sing d2a v 1.773...........

Congrats totonho03..

You have pass the longest run. I too, have accomplished a feat this weekend,

With my app SLIM-G. I had a hard time getting something ta work in it, and
now it does, and NOW I'M HAPPY

Anyways..
when you uninstalled ffvfw, you took out your vfw codec.. something you
need. I guess, by installing Xvid codec, it has a vfw support or something
along those lines. However, I suspect that v1.77.3 should now work

Anyways, I'm glad for ya pal.

Don't quote me, because I am going from memory. But I to have had this problem before with DVD2AVI v1.77.3. My problem was special characters in the .d2v file. For some reason the version 1.77.3 does not like these special characters. In you example, I am betting the "_" is not liked. In my case it was " ' " (apostrophe). When I took out any special characters, problems went away.
