Avisynth: Buffer Size with MPEG-2?

The question is: Can i set buffer size to 40 in tmpgenc for mpg2 or i must use 112 to avoid under/overflow problems??? The reason is when i set it to 40 i get a higher cq. Can anyone answer me

You can keep the size at 40, if you are muxing as VCD. If you mux as SVCD, you should use 112.

Dose this buffer setting only affect encoding? It does nothing with playback?
