hello people i'm wondering if i can encode in real time kvcd on duron 800 with 320mb ram with virtual dub ( i would use ati tv wonder for input).
And how can i include kvcd plugin/codec in Vdub mod and where can i get it.

Welcome to our party Blackie.

KVCD is NOT a codec, its a way of mpeg encoder-settings to get the best out of encodings according to quality and compressibility.

So thats not a codec like Xvid or Mjpeg. We use known encoders like TmpgEnc, CCE, and others which do allow the integration of i.e. the notch mpeg matrix which allows to compress encodings more and this can be made by for example these mentioned above encoders.

A duron 800mhz, no matter how many RAM do you got, .... I assume its very difficult to reach the realtime encoding speed rate. But speed depends primary on your desired resolution you want to encode to.

So do enter the main portal www.kvcd.net and on the right side you'll find a lot of guides which can explain you the whole KVCD workout.

thank you very much for welcome , i have browsed the listings ..and i'm aware of special use of mpeg1,2 standard to become kvcd/skvcd , and i have found some similarities on forum with my problem but i think i'm too dumb to find a way to rip and save with virtual dub from a vhs to mpeg1/kvcd (i know i have to use 352*576)to get real time (i tryed with xvid codec in virtualdub) i just can't get a mpeg1/2 codec in codec list in virtual dub.That's i think my main problem, i also downloaded this mpeg-virtual dub, as it was mentioned in forum ..but still i can't select the mpeg codec in codec list if anybody knows what am i doing wrong please help.

I may be mistaken but the only capture apps that I am aware of that can encode real time KVCD are Mainconcept PVR and FFDSHOW/FFVFW.

you need a fast machine to get i.e. 480x480 encoded to mpeg2 using ffvfw!

I have tryed Mainconcept PVR but it have problems with ati cards so it's not usefull for me unfortunately ..
