I always wanted to do scheduled captures with VirtualVCR but using the Windows Task Scheduler for that as the author suggests is terrible... One mistake and your capture is gone.
So this guy made this great scheduler, that can even shutdown when finish capturing. Check here:

I already used that one and its also capable to do sheduled capturings if an external Video-Signal will be brought to the card! Means if u use a sVHS as Tunerdevice.

Zisoft is a cool guy from doom9.de/gleitz and as I remember (not shure) he also wrote a Guide for VirtualVCR.
