Despite this a thread concerning firewalls (), there is nothing to say on the article : google is far from beeing the first site I use when I need to look at something. I'm a yahoo maniac since years.

A DHCP server has nothing to do with a firewall.
It assigns an IP address to machines on a LAN.
If you have a dynamic IP or a static IP, anything can attack you, and if you have open services, your security can be compromised.
So always use a firewall, unless you have a NAT router at home and you're the only PC behind it.
Because if there are several PCs behind the NAT router, and one has a virus that goes out over the LAN and tries to enter other machines, your security will be compromised if you don't have a (software) firewall running on your PC.

For tips, see this: http://www.grc.com/nat/nat.htm
