A DHCP server has nothing to do with a firewall.
It assigns an IP address to machines on a LAN.
If you have a dynamic IP or a static IP, anything can attack you, and if you have open services, your security can be compromised.
So always use a firewall, unless you have a NAT router at home and you're
the only PC behind it.
Because if there are several PCs behind the NAT router, and one has a virus that goes out over the LAN and tries to enter other machines, your security will be compromised if you don't have a (software) firewall running on your PC.
