I don't know about any applet but just before finishing the installation I had the option to see a readme and/or launch Gizmo.
I chose both options.
Now I have a little green circular icon on my systray but it ain't doing a damn thing appart from waisting 7MB of RAM.
I clicked it, double clicked it, right clicked it, you know - the works: nothing, rien, nada, niente....
Any ideas?
Cheers

When I right clicked on mine, I get "Hide/Show" and "Options" and "Exit".But I when I click options, nothing happens
I'll take a look at the readme file now.
I even disabled my firewall momentarily, but I can't log in yet.
Could their server be down

Ok, the icon already behaves as you have already described but it took it more or less 5 minutes to get out of that "locked" state.
Now I can't register...
My web connection is awefull today.
I wish I had it crawling again at 128/128 but at least it was reliable .
Cheers

I'm restarting XP. Maybe it needs a restart after the install.
Edit: It's good to have a Mac Mini on the side

I couldn't uninstall the thing
Every time I tried, it told me the program was running, even though it was not and it didn't show on the task manager.
So I rebooted in safe mode, and deleted the complete directory.

It's very nice in terms of features.
At least it's based on standards like SIP technology.
Unfortunately it's probably too young ATM.
Cheers

I just came back from CompUSA with a cheap Logitech USB microphone.
The Mac Minis don't have sound input. So I needed something to test it.
I plugged in the USB mike, and the (Gizmo) thing worked like a charm
I guess it's a Windoze problem then.
I'm going to keep an eye on it
If anyone has any luck running it, and wants to try it out, my username there is "kwag"

I just installed version 0.8.31 on my PC (XP), and it worked, so it seems they introduced a bug on the latest releases.
You can download this version, and it should work on Windows: http://aps.plugndial.com/sipapi-win3...o-0-8-0-31.exe

It's better, because it uses standard SIP protocols, which is not the case of Skype.
Skype is a propietary protocol, so you can't connect to other SIP phones.
Last night I tried the Mac version, and it worked just great. Today, I tried the older Windows version, calling my cel phone, and it worked great too
When you register (free), you automatically get 0.25 cents, so you can make a test call

I leave in Spain but born in Argentine.
My wife has a lot of family there, and calls are frequents.
We usually buy international phone cards.
Do you think that this service could be cheaper and, at least, with same quality?

I would try it if at least I could see the left pane image (I think it's an image with some garbled numbers ) so I could enter the security code.
I even tested the old version posted by Karl.
Apparently either my WinXP is going crazy or my router/firewall is going nuts...

So is Gizmo cheaper and better quality then Skype then?
I might download it, I hope these few teething problem bugs have been sorted out.
