@Anyone,

I finally have out-going calls working with VoipBuster thanks to Kwag.
The sound quality is great and the cost is free I'm now trying
to get free/cheap in-coming calls on the same line. Here's my options:

1) Asterick@Home using IPKall (Washington DC numbers). This involves
using AAH as PBX and IPKall to redirect the in-comming call to a
Wash. DC number (area code 360-xxx-xxxx). This cost the caller $.

2) Callcentric has a pay-per-call plan. You sign-up for an account,
deposit $5, and calls per minute in US are 2 cent. Then
pay for a virtual phone number at $6 monthly. They have phone
numbers in my area (215, 267, 610, etc.). I like this flexiable
plan, but sound quality is not known. BTW, all their plans
have caller id, call waiting, call block, and more.

If anyone has some suggestions and/or comments feel free to post

-BP

Yep, basically having the same problem here: how to have incoming PSTN calls to my home SIP phone/PBX.
Currently I only have an IPKall U.S. number but this way people calling me from across the street pay an International call .
Still haven't found a good cheap way of doing it.
I'm currently talking with my SIP provider (www.netcall.pt) to see if they will have such service soon and how much I will pay for it.
Cheers

Hi Rui,

How about VoIPcheap
It's free calls to Portugal
http://www.voipcheap.co.uk/en/rates.html
Your family and friends can use that to call you, until some provider starts with free DID in your area

This is interesting since they offer free incoming phone numbers.
Does this service work with Linksys PAP2. I read that it doesn't.
To find out which numbers are available you must register first.
If anyone has this voip service can you tell me if numbers are available
for 215, 267, 610. Thanks

Yes, but I believe this is for UK only.

Right now I can't confirm that.
I have registered with them and I am currently testing their breakout service to Portuguese landlines for free.
But apparently I can only access the "get your incoming phone number page" if I buy 10£ GBP of credits.
I won't do that right now because what I really want is SIPDiscount service.
But I simply can't download their softphone which is how I could register in their network...
I keep getting "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading." when I hit the download link on their site .
Even because from them I can start by buying $10 USD credits against 10£ GBP .
Much cheaper on SIPDiscount if you know what I mean .
BTW, VoipCheap free services only work with landlines and NOT with mobile phone providers.
I wonder if the same happens with SIPDiscount .

That's weird...
How can that be possible?
The PAP2 simply acts like a PC such as an IP phone (SIP / H.323).
Obviously they could trace if it's not their softphone on the other end but how can they trace if the service is being delivered to a physical IP phone or to an ATA device?
Unless if such service is not available for IP phones as well as for ATA devices.
Just a thought.
Cheers guys
