when i'm on internet and try to open a link(no matter where is it)
the internet explorer freeze,no one signal came or go for some seconds,
sometimes 15 or 20 seconds.
and in this "freezing seconds",if i try to open some progs or the
windows explorer,they freeze too.
after this,the pages open,and everything works....but
in few minutes it happen again!

(the last new IE from windows update)
who knows what is this?

Well I haven't had that exact problem but... I know MS Internet Explorer is a very evil program .
I always wondered what it was doing. Right now I'm using Opera when browsing through the internet.
Safer, faster, simpler...

Hi Jorel..
Opera is not so bad, when using. If all else fails, I startup Opera and do
what I gotta do (usually have something to do w/ links and D/L's and other
things that would be hamppered by IE and Java and other links in the
chain ) But, I use only sparingly for the moment.
I still prefer IE, because I can save a webpage (snapshot) w/ all the images
and links and whatnots, to my hd, for later viewing, just by clicking on the
link. I don't think tat Opera has this feature (or yet anyways) but if it did,
I'd probably give Opera another FullTime chance again. Jelly's right, in
that it's a bit faster, and less combustive (minimal sys resources) unlike
IE, where it sends your links to MS for disecting and spider-gooloshing 'n
things.. hehe.
Maybe a Tip...
* have you uninstalled IE (if that's at all possible) and then reinstalled it ??
* or, maybe you have to re-install Windows 98SE (and then re-image it)
....cause you may have "imaged" your previous W98SE w/ this bug, and
....never quite knew it, till now
.
.
just a thought (above)
Well, good luck,
-vhelp

maybe you're right vhelp.i don't deinstall and install again.
IE is important for me cos i save tons of pages from forum to read!
reinstall the windows.....i will do it too.
the "freezing seconds"came and go,sometimes for many days all is ok,
but without any reason the problem back.
is very strange, but i try to install all again.
thanks friend!

I was just about to suggest Opera. That's what I use.
In the event of a crash, when you run it again, it restores all your tabbed windows back to where you were

If I remember right in 98SE if you go to the Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel you can select Internet Explorer then "Repair" and it may help. I use Opera also so I recommend it.

Greetings Jorel:
How are you my friend? Hope that everything is OK with you.
Just a question for my understanding: are you stating that flash get is causing IE to freeze?
I have another problem with IE, and that is everytime I open hotmail using IE, I receive a message stating that there was an illegal operation with IE. I have to turn the computer off in order to bring IE back. I installed Netscape, and had no problems with hotmail.....However, there is always a however, after a couple of days, actually after a week or so, Netscape ceased to operate..........Grimlins or ghosts are affecting my computer. I have a similar problem with the desktop, but it only happens every 5 or 6 days or so, on my laptop the problem is present just about everytime I bring msn-hotmail......
Regards
Otto

happy to "see" you Otto!
a long time it happens in my pc.
sometimes when i try to open some page and in the same time
try to open any program or the explorer, the pc freeze!
only when the ie can open the page that all the other run.
now i'm deinstaling the flashget to see if all stay working faster like before.
sometimes(rare) i got an "ie ilegal operation" and everything close!
for this reason i'm using Opera that open the same page as ie 5 times faster!
remember Otto,i'm using 98se.
i used programs to search trojans, virus and nothing was found!
my friend send me this page a few hours and
i'm folowing the instructions to uninstall flashget......i will good results!

Otto and friends:
a few days i unistall flashget following the recomendations of the page posted
and using "regvac" to remove all "dust" that rest from flashget.
(from beatles-good morning,good morning)
nothing is change,stills the same,
i've got nothing to say but it's ok!
yeap!
only a little difference:
ie is a little, just a little faster.....nothing more.
the system still "freezing" sometimes...
