@Kwag,
Tried MUTE and it is somewhat limited for download files available
as with Kazaa. Still it is a very interesting option

Hi BB,
Yes, but it's not bad for being only about a month old
I can't imagine what it will be, when the program is 3 months
70,000+ downloads in about a month is impressive
Were you able to do a search, and see if you saw the file "kvcd-compat-v2.nrg"

@Kwag,
I did several searches and in some cases It returned many files and
in other searches nothing at all. I didn't realize MUTE was only
a month old. I'll revisit MUTE in three months and try it again. I
didn't search for "kvcd-compat-v2.nrg", but will try tonight when
time permits

The CVS repository reflects all the changes that the developers "commit".
This means, for example, version 0.3 was released today, and it will probably be some time before the next release is posted.
So every daily change is uploaded to the CVS. So I syncronize my local CVS sources with the developers CVS, and I build "snapshots", which reflect all changes. That means that CVS "builds" are actually more current than the official release, which may have many corrected bugs, and also introduce new bugs
Edit: What is wiki

After running it for a while, check the connections tab. You should see some IP addresses there.
Then you can do searches.
If you didn't find the nero image, it means nobody is sharing it, and I was not running MUTE at the time you searched.

I warn EVERYONE from using this release, because there is no trace to the original "Nate" anywhere (I can't find it!), so I can't trust the build.
@privevil,
Could you post a link to the modified sources, so we can compile them ourselves.
Personally, I wouldn't trust any builds, other than from any of the developers assigned by MUTE project.

It's based on the same MUTE sources, but obviously modified because it has some additions. (sources please?)
I just gave it a try and it looks good. But I ran the program disconnected from the net, just to be careful

I just deleted the link to that build. I can't trust it, because I can't find ANY references to it. Only this: http://www.zeropaid.com/news/article.../06282004b.php
And even that is a very gray area
There are NO sources for this build in the CVS, so this is VERY DANGEROUS
PLEASE, DON'T USE THAT BUILD
Use only a build from one of the assigned developers to the project:
Code:
Marc Huffnagle enigma971 Developer enigma971 at users.sourceforge.net Private
Jason Rohrer jcr13Project Admin jcr13 at users.sourceforge.net Private
Karl Wagner kwag Developer kwag at users.sourceforge.net Private
Maarten Maathuis madman2003 Support Manager madman2003 at users.sourceforge.net Private
Richard St. Pierre ripsaint Developer ripsaint at users.sourceforge.net Private
Shayne White shayne Developer shayne at users.sourceforge.net Private

http://napshare.sourceforge.net/
This is the site that has changed their program "NapShare", to use the MUTE network.
I was able to find the sources for the program, so it seems it's fairly safe to trust them.
!!!!! Take the "safe" work with a grain of salt !!!, because the sources were modified from an outside developer, and the sources are not from mute-sf.net

Thanks for the heads up Karl and for doing all this research.
I think for my own peace of mind I will stick with the official MUTE as you can trust it's code I dont want to unwittingly invite a Trojan to my PC.
