ok maybe im missing something, but how do i load the avs script into tmpg? i'm backing up dvds, and i would like to make it over 2 discs. i'm using kvcd-cq-352-240-ntscfilm-plus. when i drag the avs into tmpg, it encodes the whole thing into one mpg file, but i want two. help! anyway, all of the kvcd templates look wonderful, i dont use anything else now. anyway, any help is appreciated.

now you need to demultiplex your mpeg with TMPGEnc, and then mux it with BBmpeg. Make sure you select the # of mb to splice it at in 'General settings' .

but then i cant have the first cd end at a certain scene and start at another. if i try to guess by number of megabytes, i'd be cutting the movie at an arbitrary point.

You can also cut the mpg with TMPGEnc > mpeg tools > merge and cut. This causes problems sometimes though. I've used TMPGEnc to cut mpegs many times without any problems also.

When you use DVD2AVI you can create 2 files there.
Play with the scroll bar at the bottom and the [ ] to make the cuts.

Hey, JJ89.

Do what I do and click on "other settings". Then check the top box for "source". This will allow you to set beginning and ending points for each encoded segment you wish to make. After setting the points for the first file, click OK and "next" until you get to the 5/5 wizard screen. Here assign your file a name you want and click on the second box (not the immediate encode one). This will add this file to the batch encode list and allow you to repeat the steps above for subsequent segment encodes. Once completed, click on the immediate encode box and then all files are set to go.

Hope that helped.

ok i guess im still not getting it. i used dvd2avi to split it into 2 different projects, and in tmpeg, i tried dragging the .avs into the window, and it works, but am i using the kvcd templates at the same time, i thought i had to select them in the project wizard? when i go through the project wizard, i tried using the .avs as my video source, but then i'm jsut using the standard kvcd template values, fit cd doesnt change them. i guess i still dont get how to use fitcd AND the kvcd templates together. ive figured everything else out on my own, but this stumps me. i'd like to be able to take advantage of fitcd, instead of guessing the file sizes, tmpeg doesnt approximate well when using kvcd templates. thanks

Hi jettajerk89,

You open your .avs as "Video Source" with TMPEG. Then you load your template. Change stream type to "Video only", and encode your video.
Do your audio separately, with headac3he.
