Ok, I just finished encoding Imposter with the 352x480 plus template
and it looks strange when I play it on my computer.
In powerdvd the windows that it makes is way taller than it should be and most of the space is just black background. In the center is the video
incuding the black bars from the letter box. And the video looks
like it's twice as wide as it should be.

did I do something totally wrong when I reencoded this with the kvcd template?

it also looks like there are a bunch of lines going through the dislplay
that I think might be interlacing, but I'm not sure what to do to get
rid of them. I tried adding a filter in tmpgenc, but the render time was
well over 25 hours. Way too long.

thanks for any help or tips.

-Jeff

Did you use Force Film in your DVD2AVI project file?

If that didn't work you will have to IVTC in TMPGEnc to get rid of the lines and that will take awhile.

As for the boxing, try burning the CD and playing it in your DVD player. You might just find that the DVD player corrects the aspect ratio.

Actually, I'm not using DVD2AVI. I'm capturing from and ADS Instant DVD, which goes straight to mpeg2 740x480 5mbs. That file is HUGE so
I have to rencode to make it workable.

I can't capture to AVI since I only have a laptop. I also can't rip dvd
directly, since I don't have a dvd drive.

suggestions?

Hi Jeff,
You can open your captured mpeg file with DVD2AVI ( version 1.76 ), and create a .d2v project file. Then open the mpeg again with MPEG Mediator, and export the WAV audio. Now use FitCD to open the .d2v, and resize to your destination, and save the script. Now open the .avs script with TMPEG as video source and the WAV as audio source. Load your template and encoded. This is similar to the procedure I have used to process the captured MPEG-2 files with my Pinnacle Bungee.
Give that a try.
