When I use Bitrate viewer to view the finished mpeg file using your HalfDVD (CVD) Template I get the following results:

Num. of picture read: 376462
Stream type: MPEG-2 MP@ML VBR
Resolution: 352*576
Aspect ratio: 4:3 Generic
Framerate: 25.00
Nom. bitrate: 3100000 Bit/Sec
VBV buffer size: 72
Constrained param. flag: No
Chroma format: 4:2:0
DCT precision: 10
Pic. structure: Frame
Field topfirst: No
DCT type: Field
Quantscale: Nonlinear
Scan type: Alternate
Frame type: Interlaced
Notes:

When I view another Multi DVDr thats someones created I get the following results:

Num. of picture read: 376487
Stream type: MPEG-2 MP@ML VBR
Resolution: 352*288
Aspect ratio: 4:3 Generic
Framerate: 25.00
Nom. bitrate: 9554800 Bit/Sec
VBV buffer size: 112
Constrained param. flag: No
Chroma format: 4:2:0
DCT precision: 8
Pic. structure: Frame
Field topfirst: No
DCT type: Frame
Quantscale: Nonlinear
Scan type: Alternate
Frame type: Progressive
Notes:

The one major difference is the nominal bitrate could this have anything to do with PS2 playback? just wondering

give me your thoughts and what does this actually mean why the massive difference?

cheers

The big difference is the resolution. In the KDVD half D1, you have 352x576, which is defined as Half DVD resolution in the DVD standards. BTW CVD is something else. It's not DVD compliant. KDVD half and full are.
The multi DVDr you posted is 352x288, which is also a valid DVD standard MPEG-2 resolution. I also see something wrong in your KDVD. The VBV should be 224, and it is 72
This is not what the template is supposed to generate. I believe your authoring program re-encoded your mpeg file.

Hi Kwag,

sorry meant KDVD not CVD gettin mixed up.... lol

Sorry I meant to say I set to automatic because I upped the Bitrate...

I'm doing a basic comparison because the lower resolution one works perfect in my PS2 and the KDVD doesn't..

The KDVD one hasn't been authered yet just sat here on my hard drive in mpeg format, just created by TMPGenc.
any further help would be appreciated...
