Hi!I'm greatly impressed with the KVCD format and have had some very satisfactory encoding results(and quite a bit of help from these forums).
Today I purchased a standalone DVD-player(Targa DP-500x) which is DivX compatible,allowing me to play full movies from a CD-R in Divx,XviD and mp4 formats as well as KVCD.The player cost me £20=(but I did have to queue outside the shop before it opened)!
Could someone please explain to me the advantages of KVCD over Divx and the other video formats?Which format gives most flexibility in encoding parameters etc?

You can forget about using chapters on your standalone player, when playing DivX
On your KVCDs, you can have menus and chapters.

KVCD is a matrix that allows you to squeeze 2-3 movies(due to compression) in DVD compatible format.

The advantages and disadvantages will be the same as DVD Vs Divx playback.

No extensive Menu layouts in Divx

No chapters in Divx

If you have to lend it to your friends, they should have the Divx player, so lesser sharing opportunities.
