Hi Everyone,
I have been using the KVCD templates for months now with great success. They have enabled me to create VCD's that have played on 99% of the machines they have been tried on, all over the world. Most of the video I process is in Black & White, and I use different versions of the templates based on the file size I need to create. I start by capturing video with PowerVCR at twice the normal bitrate for a VCD in MPEG1, then process using TMPGEnc, which then allows for nice quality B&W video, about 2+ hours on a single CD.
My question has to do with burning a standard compliant VCD with Nero. I keep reading that you should turn OFF the standard compliance when burning a KVCD MPEG with Nero. I have never needed to do this, as the MPEGs I have created have always been Nero compliant, and I'm able to burn discs regularly at 32x. Is there any other reason to turn off standard compliance if Nero creates VCD's with no problems?

Not at all ckdexterhn
But this only works if you encode at 352x240(28. Even VCDEasy will read these KVCD encoded MPEG-1 files as "Standard compliant"

Thanks Kwag! I just wanted to make sure that I was doing everything I could to make my VCD's as compatable as possible, while still making full use of the VCD format as far as time length and quality was concerned. I've had many people ask about my VCD's and how I'm able to get 2-3 hours on a single disc, when all they know about is the standard 74 minutes on a disc. I've clued them in on the great KVCD templates, but somehow they still don't get it...!
