I'm trying to sort out a sync problem by using the delay thing in the source range, I have gone as high as 30 and as low as -30 and the audio doesn't seem to change. is it + or - if the audio is behind the video?

Did you encode in Headache and if so did you check resample in 44.1 KHz?

no this is processed through vdub using correction 44.1khz 16bit stereo settings, I have processed the wav through headac3he as well same thing happens, it happens after corrupt frame in the avi file.
