I've tried ploughing through the guides for converting avis to kvcd, but am having a high degree of difficulty getting it all to work.
Basically I have some downloaded avis, all with mp3 sound, no ac3 in sight - is it possible to JUST re-encode through tmpg_enc plus using a kvcd template to fit them onto individual cd's?

No. Well you could add audio to the template and encode it all at once using the wizard, but there's no guarantee it would fit on one CD. The quality would also be quite bad. To get a decent result you have to use scripts and filesize prediction. Keep trying, once you get there you'll be happy you didn't give up. Need any help, just ask.
