OK, I encoded John Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars last night with a PAL hack of the NTSC KDVD template... Changed the final GOP length to 15 as Kwag mentioned, and encoded 16:9 anamorphic at 720x576, 25fps.

Final MPEG-2 video file (no audio) rolls in at 1.41Gb and looks extremely good! This is looking very promising... I haven't burned the disc yet as I'm busy encoding another movie to fit on the DVD-R, but this is looking extremely cool indeed...
