TMPGEnc 2.520 (2.520.54.163) July 17 2003:

Updates & Fixes:
TMPGEnc Plus Version 2.520

Includes the MPEG decoder CRI Sofdec. Now, input of MPEG-2 files is a standard feature.
Plus, the picture quality (brightness, color) shown on your pc display will be close to the one on
your TV. So the editing will be easier.
*when using CRI sofdec:
remove the check on [ Output YUV data as Basic YCbCr not CCIR601 ]
[ Setting ] => [ Quantize matrix ] => [Output YUV data as...]
*when using CRI sofdec, you can open a maximum of 8 sequence files as a movie.
Fixed:
Made minor corrections.

Don't worry, I'm testing 2.520 right now, and all CQ tests I'm running, match perfectly with the prior version
So there shouldn't be any CQ variations from the last version and the new version

Should I go to 2.520? I have version 2.512 and it is very stable. The main reasons I would switch if there is more options, better qulity (I only use Mpeg2), and/or speed increase.

Hi ak47,

I've been using the new version since it was released, and I've had no problems at all

From their page:

TMPGEnc Plus Version 2.520 (2.520.54.163) July 17 2003

Added:
"Includes the MPEG decoder CRI Sofdec. Now, input of MPEG-2 files is a standard feature. Plus, the picture quality (brightness, color) shown on your pc display will be close to the one on your TV. So the editing will be easier.
*when using CRI sofdec:

*when using CRI sofdec, you can open a maximum of 8 sequence files as a movie.

Fixed:
Made minor corrections."

I currently have 2.56.39.143 for MPEG 1 and 2.53.35.130 for MPEG 2. Should I change?

Is there a free version still for MPEG1?
