Hi.

I've become aware that having the latest version of TMPGEnc, 2.521.58.169, is not the best for encoding MPEG-2. Is there an ideal version? I also have version 2.59.47.155. Is this a better choice?

I found the Beta12 version, but I can't get it to work.

Thanks.

Hi there,
I'm not a TMPGEnc releases expert but TMPGEnc 2.59 is really not the way to go. Even if 2.521 is not the best of all.
Beta12 is good old lady but I'm affraid maybe you'll only find it in Japaneese which could explain your problems with it.
Other than that it should work fine as 2.58 which was the one I used most without any major problems.
Cheers

I have 2.59.47.255 and have not any problem (at the moment). What problem could it be?

Ola Pro,
There is a major known bug in 2.59 (maybe not with the step version you're using).
I really don't recall which bug it was but try the forum search button for 2.59 and bug and maybe you'll catch it
Cheers

I have the Beta12 in english. It just doesn't work. Everytime i start an encode, CPU utilization hits the cieling and I have to end the task. I'll try to find 2.58.

Thanks

EDIT: I've tried the following versions:

2.58.44.152
2.59.47.155
2.521.58.169

There seems to be no difference between them.

Does anyone have the B12 version working in WinXP on a Pentium4?

Thanks

Umm..isn't TMPGEnc supposed to use all the CPU cycles you've got?

TMPGEnc 2.59 has a bug which makes the files too big and so you can't put one movie to cd.

I knew I was right about 2.59.
I just didn't recall the bug that bugged us for a while back then
Thanks for recalling it EM.
Cheers

I'll clarify...When using the kvcd templates, B12 uses max utilization and encodes nothing. If I use a template that came with B12, it works fine.

Sorry Jim,
I forgot that the template format changed a bit from the old betas to the latest releases.
When I tried beta versions of TMPGEnc I changed them to look like the ones Karl provided us with.
So You'll have to do the same if you plan on using B12.
Cheers

Yeah, I was going to try creating a new template for B12.

Thanks for the confirmation.
