Since kwag is completely reworking the whole prediction algorythm, we should post our personal prediction Methods, that are bringing us accurate results to some extent. This should be a temporary way to get accurate results, until kwag is done with the new algorythm.

So, I make the Start:

To find out the average and minimum bitrate, I use Vhelp's vcalc. My Settings:

Using: 1000k

MS Precision: Unchecked

min. precision: Unchecked


For the prediction I use CQ - Matic 1.0 RC 5, since 1.05.00 gave me way too high CQ's.

With this Method, I got acceptable results.

Please post your methods in this thread.

Those settings will give you a much lower avg. bitrate than the "actual" one you need (which I guess helps to keep the vid. size from going over )

I'm having great success with CQMatic 1.04 with DivX sources
I'm using Bearson's calc to get the bitrate and I'm only using Lanczos resizer at 352x240 with no other filters

btw- previous versions of CQMatic 1.0x has been very accurately predicting cq of two cd dvd rips also with MA script ;D I did however see Bud's post about the filesize going way over- that's weird

And what is bearson's Calculator. Where can I use it

Bearson's bitrate calculator is a very simple no bullsh*t calc that you can download from Doom9 download section

FYI on VCALC...
In addition to my older bitrate formula (which I'll still be using) Bearson's
calculator is matching my NEW bitrate formula !! And, so's vcdhelp's too,
though I'm still debuggin this one.

But, bare in mind, that Bearson's calculator is using 1024k mode instead of
the 1000k mode, which vcdhelp recommends we use in our ave bitrate
calculations (and also uses as it's default)

Sorry, I've ben reading up on bitrate caluations and formulas

And, my newer VCALC will have these changes (and some other niceaties
as well)

Hey that's great news! I had an idea the other day of an integrated standard or scientific calculator addon to yours. Kind of like this:



I drew that up in Photoshop and I thought it would be kinda cool to have an all in one bitrate and regular calculator in one place on the desktop

That's so weird..

Every time I am debugging my bitrate calculations and formulas, I use the
quick and dirty, M$ calc.exe app, and M$ Excel for hard-core debugging

All the while, I'm fantisizing that very same illusion
