Ok now here is my process for making a kvcd
1.I use moviestacker to make the avs file. I use what profile i want to use... (I am using avisynth 2.08 )
2.Then i use Tok to predict the file size.
3. I then use Tok to encode and make the file.

Is that it? Am i doing everything right. I have downloaded all the NTSC templates for TMPGenc.

Also any suggestions on backing up fair quality divx backups of anaimation? I have a bunch of it and i would like to sqeeze as much as i can on one disk using the Ulbr setting. I have been looking into kvcd for about 2 days .
Also my final question, in the first backup I made every once in a while the bottom part of the screen would corrupt. It would turn extrreamly blocky. It would do it in the same parts over and over. They played perfectly on my computer. Also I downloaed all the kvcd samples of senfeild and they played perfectly so i dont think its a player issue. Thanks in advance for any Help!

Your process is fine, but you don't need to download any templates, because ToK produces MPEGs already encoded with KVCD parameters.

If the samples played fine, that means your standalone DVD player supports all the resolutions we use. That's good news
Do the problem was when you encoded your mpeg files.
Go to www.kvcd.net and take a look at some of the great guides available. Look on the right side under "Articles".

Oh, Thanks anyways.
I found out the problem I think about the file getting corrupted in places. Vcdeasy said that the file needed to be padded or something. I think this was due to my audio being at 224 kbit.

on my second encode i tried to fit a movie onto on disk. The results were very good! at 528x and higher should i get rid of blockbuster from my script?

Yep. It's ineffective above 352x240. Maybe at 352x480 it still helps a little, but not much.

Man bummer, I tryed out the movie on another standalone dvd player and in high movement scenes it skips like mad and the audio makes funny noises. It must not be able to handle the amount of data or something. I am played the compatablity vids on the same standalone and the 704x and the 528x ran choppy and had the same problem! Damn, i have been trying to find a format that will work on both players. Both can play svcd and vcd so i wonder what the problem is....

Darn! I found the problem. The dvd player in my living room really hates high 2500kbit vcd! The player in my room plays it perfectly. I have tried to encode the video in mpeg 2 but i have the reverse probem now! When I encoded the file in high a high bitstream (2500kbit) the file plays perfectly on the dvd player in my living room but not the one in my room. So I did the vcd header trick to get it to play. Now the file works my my room but not the player in the living room. ARRRRGGGGG. Well it looks like a philips dvd702 is pure crap for kvcd or xvcd. It plays Svcd perfectly. The other player (the one in my room) is a pansonic cv-52. It can play kvcd and xvcd perfectly. It can only play svcd if I do the header trick.... Damn why cant i have both players in both rooms play all files perfectly.....
