I have an mpg that I want to demux and seeif i can clean up the sound in.
it has a lot of "hiss and crackles" in it, i tried to use tmpgenc but it only demuxes a portion of the file, the whole movie is 729 megs, but when it finishes demux, i have a 245mb video file and a 45mb audio file. i have done this 3 times with the same results, is there any other programs that will do this? i will use cooledit or goldwav to clean the sound file, and then use BBMPG to remux...........\\thanx

You can use bbDemux that is part of bbTools (http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/do...s/bbtools.html). But it is a command line tool with no GUI.

Or you can do that with GraphEdit if you know how to use this wonderful tool (not easy, and not really for beguiners).

I'll give you how to do it with graphedit this week-end as I'm not in my home at the mome,nt and do not have graphedit at the office (I don't know all the procedure by memory, I have to do it step by step myself while I describe it to you ).

But I'm quite sure that your MPEG is corrupted and nothing will handle it correctly.

New suggestion : open it in VDub (or VDub mod if it is a MPEG2), extract the audio and then frameserve tmpgenc for the video.

Other : do a little avs script that just load the mpeg and open it into tmpgenc. Then you can extract the audio by using the menu "File" -> "output to file" -> WAV

Other bis : the same but with a d2v project insteed of an avs script.

the video(mpg1) does play fine on the pc and on dvd player, Vdub tells me that there are "Anachronistic or discontinuous timestamp found in video/audio stream". I tried to extract just the video with Tmpgenc, but i still get the 245mb file size. I was able to get the audio with VDub (full processing @ 688mb).wav, I think I can play around and clean up the sound but I still cant get the video seperated from the mpg file, so I can re-mux the new and improoved sound file with the original video file......

ill find graphedit and try to use it until i hear from you this weekend, i may stumble on the right fix for this movie......thanx Dialhot

Unfortunaly, after many tries, I see it's not possible with graphedit (it works with ogg media, but not mpeg1).

BTW it's sure your mpg is corrupted, so you will have to reencode it, nor just demux/remux.

Vdub don't want to frameserve this video to tmpgenc ?
